Welcome one and all to a very Athena Veta season of good will! Athena’s a friend of the show, as it were, and general all-around cool person; she also happens to be extremely smart, so check out her blog at the AmbiGaming Corner for deep and well-considered thoughts on what we can learn from gaming as well as a whole bunch of other always-interesting stuff.
For the holiday season this year, Athena’s coordinated an event based on that classic Marmite of tunes (you love it or you hate it): The Twelve Days of Christmas. Each day from December 26th to January 6th, we’ll look at a gamified version of one of the song’s lines until eventually we have 364 gamey gifts!
On the first day of Blogmas, the gamers said to me: What are twelve favourite gaming memories?
On the second day of Blogmas, the gamers said to me: Tell us eleven games you love!
Hoo boy. Okay, I’m just going to list eleven without thinking about it too hard or I’ll be here all day. This is not necessarily my top favourite eleven, nor in order, but eleven games that I really love as of right now!

5. Ace Attorney (just the franchise, can’t pick a specific one)

2. Nier: Automata (I haven’t ACTUALLY PLAYED this but I’ve seen LPs of the whole thing and I’m convinced that it will be one of my favourite games of all time once I finally get around to buying it, shh, that’s allowed)

Again, that’s not guaranteed to be my top of all time nor in the right order, but looking back on the games I’ve played (and indeed… not played) those are all ones that pop into my mind right now, so I’m good with that!

I loved Mirror’s Edge! Glad to see it on your list. Faith was so awesome and she only cared about saving her sister. Yep. The story, of course, gave me FFXIII vibes, haha.

Mirror’s Edge is probably one of my favourite games, actually. It’s just so much fun! I really think it got a lot of stuff right in perhaps more ways than it could have been expected to at the time.
