Just a quick one to say that if you aren’t aware of the Blogger Blitz, you really ought to become aware. It’s a phenomenal collaborative event hosted by everyone’s friend, Ian from Adventure Rules; it was one of the first things I did when I was first meeting the people who make up this spectacular community, and it’s been my favourite part of the blogging year both times it’s taken place thus far.
It’s pretty simple, really. Participants submit gaming characters, who will face off in tournament-knockout style against each other in a series of bizarre and amusing events. How each person deals with the events their character needs to win is totally up to them, resulting in lots of awesome writers getting a lot of creative freedom to write about gaming icons doing zany things in immensely amusing fashion.
This year’s signups are NOW OPEN, and it’s a very cool-sounding theme with a lot of potential for some exceptionally entertaining shenanigans: Shipping Wars, in which pairs of characters will be competing together for the first time. (Year one, was just any single character; year two, Black Sheep, was specific to baddies.) This means that you aren’t picking just one champion character, but two, for twice the awesomeness! If I were competing this year, I’d probably go for a rivals dynamic, but you can pick any pair configuration from romantic to true friends to whatever the heck.
I genuinely mean it when I say that some of the most fun I’ve had writing things has been as part of the Blitz, and I really encourage everyone to consider signing up. I don’t think anybody would regret being a participant, especially as Ian really does foster a great sense of camaraderie among everyone involved; there are never any hard feelings, just friendly competition and joy at seeing what great things everyone comes up with!
The image is also a link! See how many opportunities you’re getting to go read this thing? That’s NOTHING compared to how many opportunities you’ll get to JUST HAVE A GREAT TIME, OKAY?
Cool.
Go do it.
Thanks.
(this post not sponsored by Ian, I just genuinely really like the thing)
