On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… a question about festive soundtrackery! All the details of this Christmassy Q&A are here, so why not get involved?
Today’s question is:
‘It’s now Christmas Eve and you’re throwing a lively party for all your friends, family and favourite characters. Which video game soundtracks would be on your playlist?’
I have to confess that I’ve surprised myself here, by being startlingly unfamiliar with OSTs that are Christmassy. I’m a big fan of game music, as anyone who’s read this blog for a while will know, and I don’t dislike festivities, so I thought more would spring to mind, but I really can’t think of any video game soundtracks that have Christmas-sounding music.
Y’know what, just because it’s a Christmas party doesn’t mean the music has to be themed. Let’s just stick on PaRappa the Rapper and be done with it! It’s gonna be a boppin’ party, I’ll tell ya that much.
If you want a bit of an insight into my non-gamey Christmas playlist, it’s basically just The Darkness’s ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)‘ on repeat, with the occasional hippopotamus song thrown in. The King’s Singers also have a pretty decent array of Christmas and Advent tunes, for those who like that sort of thing – which I do, but it’s not exactly BANGING TUNES, so it tends to bring the party down a bit. (PS – there’s a ‘shreds’ version of one of their performances, and it’s just incredible.)
Well, this is clearly not going to be the best party of all time, but then again I’ve always sort of preferred just hanging out with a book anyway, so there you have it.
Tomorrow’s question is a slightly cheeky one, so make sure to check back for that!
