An entire week ago, the world was treated to the inaugural edition of the greatest fashion-show-gaming-crossover-event-for-the-ages of all time ever: High Score Haute Couture, by me and Pix!
- Each of us picked five fashionable characters to go down the runway. I then wrote the show starring Pix’s lineup, and she wrote the show with my selections.
- In my half of the show (starring Pix’s choices, don’t forget!), Repede (Tales of Vesperia), Raiden (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance), Brighid (Xenoblade Chronicles 2), Yashiro (Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE) and Ashe (Final Fantasy XII) faced off in an epic showdown.
- In Pix’s show, put on by my picks, Setzer (FFVI), Athena Cykes (Ace Attorney), Sniper Wolf (Metal Gear Solid), Agent 47 (Hitman) and Samus (Metroid) went sashaying down the runway in uber-vogue fashion.
- Since then, the polls have been open to vote for a winner of each show. We closed the polls earlier this morning, and the winners are…
Repede and Samus!!
Well, I’m happy with my selection, and I hope Pix is too! It really came down to the wire on her poll – in the end, she had to close it with a tie between Samus and Athena, throwing the final decision to the wind by announcing that the first person to reply to her tweet would be the one to decide. I would have been happy with either of them, but Samus is iconic enough that I now feel a sense of responsibility to do her justice!
So where do we go from here? Well, next Friday, April 11th, Pix and I will release one more runway post each. I’ll be writing a final, epic catwalk for Samus and Pix will be telling us how Repede strikes his last poses.
After that, we’ll need the help of some extra-special guest judges to decide the ultimate victor; we might have some idea of who that’s going to be, but we’ll let you know for sure in our final runways next week. Those judges will then be writing a short post each to let us know who they think was the winner – they can do this however they like, whether that be simply describing their reasoning or writing an entire dance-battle sequence between the two, culminating in one standing victorious – and those will be coming out in the near future. It’ll depend on the judges’ availability, really, but we’re aiming for before the end of May.
Then the last thing for Pix and I to do will be to tally up the votes and wrap up this show! It’s been fun, and perhaps there might even be another one some time… Let us know if you have any ideas for how we could do something similar in the future, but expanding the scale for even more magnificence!
We’ll see you next week for the finalists’ Epic Catwalk Showdown of Ultimate Power and Destiny!
